| Three ancient civilizations make up the three Pueblos of the Salinas Valley, Abo, Gran Quivira and Quarai. These three pueblos have roots back as far as 7,000 years ago. In 1598 Juan De Onate financed an expedition into New Mexico and the Salinas Valley to establish a Spanish presence. In about 1670 due to Spanish interference , disease, famine and Apache raids the Pueblos were abandoned. |
